Respond to the planning application by clicking the button below. Even a one-sentence objection must
be considered. If you have more to say, all the better. Because LBHF have refused to give White City
Estate Residents a vote, this is one important way that residents will be able to have their
opinions registered. The council claims that it can go ahead with this massive plan because we told
them we approve of it. But there was no vote, so if you did not say yes to this huge redevelopment
please register your objection to their planning application here.
EVERYONE on White City Estate should send in their opinion.
The planning committee will be particularly interested in some matters such as:
Over-development or overcrowding of the site: The estate will be too overcrowded with
insufficient open space. The development might be too high-density for the area or an
over-development of the estate itself. There will be loss of open space, including gardens.
Negative/adverse visual impact of the development: Homes facing the centre of the estate will be
overshadowed by 6-storey blocks. Quality of life will be affected by overlooking and
overshadowing, especially in lower-floors.
Loss of privacy and inconvenience: New buildings might be overbearing or out of scale compared
to the surrounding open space.
Negative Effects on Amenity
Traffic generation: Increased traffic through the courtyards of Denham, Evans, and Mackay
houses, leading to highway safety concerns.
Loss of community spaces: The loss of Bridget Joyce square and other community spaces will
negatively impact neighbouring amenities.
Disability access: Community facilities moving to a multi-storey building with a play area on
the roof.
Parking: New residents may use estate roads and courtyards for parking without contributing to
their upkeep.
Ecology: Loss of approximately 100 trees and over 2000 sqm of open space.
Other Objections
There are other matters that the planning committee may NOT consider as much but you can make a
complaint about anything here or email
the council leader at
stephen.cowan@lbhf.gov.uk.
These might be things like:
The attitude or behavior of the developer and LBHF Council.
Failure to provide a vote to every council resident on White City Estate.
Health and well-being concerns due to construction dust, noise, and traffic.
Impacts on children’s health and education during the 4-year redevelopment.
Concerns about bias, corporate conflicts of interest, and gentrification.
The evidence suggests that the council has not complied with several policies and legislations,
which could mean a Judicial Review or other court action will be viable. Those with a background in law
are welcome to assist in preparing legal responses.
Despite years of controlled promotion by the council, the planning application remains a significant
opportunity for residents to exert influence through legal means. Please respond to that if you have
not already.
